Local lake kokes are nothing like sockeye imo. For a lake fish they are hands down way above a trout.

You big guys with your fancy gear, fancy boats chum bags etc, you just need a cute girl  :chuckle:
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

Nice.  Was out for a quick trip this am, not my boat so trolling speed was an issue. Lots more boats, lots of surface activity and a few fish seen in the net. Will be out tomorrow in my boat to be more serious about getting after them.

When you guys are smoking these fish,  or even cooking them whole, you should really consider leaving the fins in. They have amazing meat around the bases, and the fin and associated bones pull right out when cooked. Just a suggestion, you're missing out on great bites of meat cutting them out!

I’ll give it a try. Always been a fin cutter, way I was taught I guess.

With salmon, make sure you save the collars too. Really good.

I just grill them pretty hot. They have lots of fat. It ends up really good and I like it at least as much as a good fillet.
