Got one on the vintage zebco!

That's awesome.  A 202 trophy for sure.  Does the drag work?
The drag does work, but it sounded like it was getting tortured when that fish took off. Lol

I'm so jealous you guys are out catching them. I drive over the 522 bridge every morning around 5am. The last few days I've started seeing them slapping the surface of the water. I think I might have to go out "steelheading". A few "accidental" humpy bites are not unwelcome....lol :dunno:

My buddy hooked a springer on a Snoopy rod.  It didn't end well.  Pinks are great targets for that because it is unlikely but plausible to reel one in successfully.

HA!! I've got that same rod sitting in my garage, my first ever pole and reel. Gotta be at least 45 years old. Pretty sure the reel is rusted up though, I cant fish with it.

Try twitching jigs too.  Good fun in the salt with no trolling.  Find jumpers and throw jigs at them.

:yeah:  Or buzzbombs/rotators with a pink mini squid over the hook. Highly effective.

Why don't you up the ante and just go to a snoopy rod?

This works really good!

The boat is loaded, two yutes and I will be headed out in the AM to drop a few pots then hit them hard.  One has never caught a salmon and the other is old enough to start learning to run gear and downriggers, so it should be the perfect opportunity for all.  Myself, I am hoping for at least one fish and a crab or two to whip up some spicy crab rolls for dinner.

You ain’t lived until you’re caught a salmon on a Zebco 202 reel.😉

I’ve got that block checked.👍

Several years ago, I was fishing with my daughter, she must have been 6 or 7 at the time and she wanted her own pole.  So, I put out the Zebco 202 rod with a small dodger and a spoon on it, no weight just trolling it behind the boat near the surface.  Something, I’ll never now what, slammed it.  About 4 feet of line stripped out then the reel froze, then the rod broke at the first eyelet below the tip, then it broke at the next one, and the next one, and so on down the rod until the handle finally broke and the reel, rod pieces, and everything else disappeared into the deep.  I wish that I had a video of it.

We’re 4 for 10, got out late and the bite really slowed.  Kids are loving it.

Landed 4 pinks yesterday on Possession while fishing for Kings. 3 on a 3.5 inch Kingfisher spoon and 1 on a hoochie. Another week and they're gonna be thick.
