What mechanical broad head for deer?
« on: November 09, 2019, 02:19:43 PM »
Curious to hear what mechanical broad head everyone is using and why. I don’t want a trashing of one broad head or another. Just what you prefer and experiences.

Doing some mule deer hunting late season and not sure what one to get. Thanks guys and gals.

I had issues with my rages. More than once pulling them from the quiver they would expand on me :IBCOOL: dropping that arrow for another has lost me a couole shor opportunities. I have since went back to fixed blades

Bloodsport Grave Digger 125 grain. Hybrid.  The  five animals I have shot went less than 40 yards. 3 mule deer bucks.  2elk.  a cow and a 6 by 7 bull. I have not lost any animals using these. There is a set screw for the mechanical blade. These fly like field points. No adjusting my sights.

Thanks for the replies so for I’ve heard a lot of mixed about the rage for sure! But hard to weed through the reviews. I’m going to look at the bloodsports now.

I have killed a few deer with 100 grain Schwackers. They work well. They don’t hit the same place as my field points though. A couple of the hits were marginal and the 2” cut saved the day and I had a dead deer instead of what could have been a blood trail with no deer at the end of it.

Ha e you looked into trying any of the hybrids out there. Best of both worlds.

I have not looked into the hybrids much. Do you have to tune them like you do fixed?
