I think awareness of what is transpiring at every level of government is key.

I agree 100%.  They need to know we're watching them and won't let them slip anything in without being held to account.  But if someone read the post, emailed a city council member and said "I am against you confiscating my guns with your ordinance!" they would be easy to dismiss as not informed and irrational.  Exactly the type of person these council members are worried about freaking out.

It's a potential overreach by the council, for sure. It would be good to ask the council members the question Jingles posed before they vote on it.  But even if it passes as-is, it's not anything until the mayor issues that specific order.  And it's not a confiscation program in any case.

I'd say:

*  There are always some "they" out to take our guns.   There's no shortage of folks who want to grab our guns right now.....   But they can't.  There's also no shortage of gun owners.
*  The most dangerous way it's happening is through small, incremental steps.....   Ammo tax, magazine limits, etc.
*  More and more of our children don't value the U.S. constitution.
*  It's scary how many young adults have been taught not to be proud to be an American.
(my kids are 19-32, and it is downright scary what public Universities have tried to teach them.   I have multiple real life examples from them.)

I'm gonna guess that they will never show up at my door and take my guns.
I'm not convinced the same will be true for my children.

I'm also concerned that the mysterious "they" will take little bites wherever they can, making it functionally much more difficult to enjoy our RIGHT.
EXAMPLE:   They don't need to confiscate 30 round magazines to restrict my use of them.   IF they make them illegal, then law abiding citizens like myself can't go into the woods and dump a few magazines just for fun.   I enjoy doing that with my kids.

I think we need to e vigilant, but not alarmist.

And, sadly, I think we are losing the long game.

Very well said, but I also think "some states" are well past taking little bites.  :bash:

Definitely true.

Cant imagine living someplace in the U.S. where it is super difficult to even own a pistol.

This needs a title change for a bit. How about,  " will we surrender our guns?" I know my answer. How about you?

 :stirthepot:

Posted a video about that yesterday, no one seemed to have any comment.

Introduced and sponsored only by Hank Johnson, the guy who thought Guam would tip over, IIRC.

It's not worth getting riled about, right now, except to use as an example of how far some dems want to take "reasonable gun safety measures."
