Sorry for your loss! One of the saddest facts of life is that our family members that happen to be dogs have such shorter lifespans. It sounds like you gave him the best life he could hope for.
I feel for you shorthair15. So tough emotionally to loose a loved one, even if they have hair all over and walk on all fours.. I had to put my 13 year old Male GSP down 4 months ago due to cancer. This may sound shallow but, it was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. He was my buddy and he had no idea what was going on when I brought him to the Vet. I still feel guilty today even though I know I did the right thing. With time it does get easier. I said I didnt want to get another Dog because it was so hard losing Zeke and such a PIA when you want to go on a trip, but last night my Wife caught me looking at GSP puppies on line. All I could think about was all of the great times Zeke and I had together and how I would love another chance at having such a great friend. Sorry you are having to endure this, time will heal and the awesome memories will start flooding back.
