Can I go fishing at Big Flat(Dalton lk ) tomorrow in Franklin County? Quarry pond in Walla Walla county?

Can I go to any of the habitat management units along the lower Snake River to walk my dog and bird watch?

Soda or the Goose lakes up at Potholes?

Can I launch at Hood park on the Snake? Two Rivers Park? Above Ice Harbor or Lower Monumental?

Scootney reservoir?

I'm not sure why you folks care about boat ramps being open or not, it doesn't matter because according to the order these are the only 4 reasons you can leave your house...

Under Inslee’s order issued Monday evening, Washingtonians can leave their homes for only four “essential services”:

To obtain necessary supplies like food and medication

To exercise. You can go outside for activity but be conscientious by staying six feet apart from others.

To care for a loved one or take them to get medication, medical help or groceries.

To seek medical and behavioral help for you, family members or animals.

Fishing, shed hunting, spring bear hunting, camping, bird watching, boating, etc are not on that list...

You can’t beat common sense into some people with a hammer
When fall rolls in and deer and elk hunting should open
If we still are dealing with the virus don’t be surprised if that gets cancelled

"To obtain necessary supplies like food".  I own a boat. Own all my fishing supplies. I can travel, launch and fish using 4 gallons of gas. Fishing twice a week I can go a month without even refueling. One trip with my wife provides 20 kokanee for $12. I would come into contact with zero people. Safest, cheapest way I can feed my family right now.

Good point. Fishing is "obtaining food." 👍

I don't see what could possibly be considered unsafe by doing so, since you're not coming into contact with any other people. Common sense!

But it's fine to go to Walmart. 🙄

When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.

I will defend the governor to a certain degree, he's got his hands full and I don't blame him for spending less than 1 second thinking about fishing.

WDFW on the other hand should have ample time to think through some solid regulations and guidance.

I tried to explain to my 11 year old tonight at the dinner table that if 1000 people decide to go fishing or hunting the odds are someone is going to get into a wreck. Someone may end up having to go to the hospital. If that person puts additional burden on the ER right now or worse yet, if that person is coronavirus + then you've added to the problem thinking that "I was only going to go fishing, how could this be a problem".

Or, you decide to get your youth turkey and by luck you happen to get one in the first 30 minutes. The next thing you're going to want to do is go get another tag at Walmart. And while you're there you probably stop at the minimart get pick up a diet coke. There are reasonable odds that someone "just going fishing" or hiking, or shed hunting is going to result in contact with others.

Should the pot shops be shut down? Hell yea. I didn't want them in the first place.

I really don't understand how you are struggling with this. I get more exposure checking my mail than going fishing.

Dalton Lake, Hood Park, Two Rivers, and Habitat Management Units are US Army Corps, they are open.
Quarry Pond is US Fish and Wildlife, it is open.
Scooteney is US Bureau of Reclamation, it is open.
Soda and Goose are on WDFW Wildlife Areas, they are closed.

Inslee specifically states people can recreate and specifically states 'walking' and "going for bike rides" correct?! What in the heck do you think places like the Centennial Trail, Sammamish River Trail and Burk Gilman Trail are going to look like the next 14 days??!

Why keep those recreational options open but close access to launch areas where there would be arguably FAR fewer people and the people there would be much farther spaced out? That's my issue. I don't want to go walk or bike on a trail with potentially hundreds if not thousands of people whizzing by breathing heavily. It just doesn't make sense.

I am in 'walking' distance of two lakes but once I get there the access is now closed, why? I would rather go to a lake with fewer people around and CATCH food vs. a grocery store full of people and buy food and run a massively higher risk of potentially catching C19! Makes zero frigging sense to me.

Just be specific, be consistent, apply common sense, shut absolutely EVERYTHING down for two weeks and roll in the National Guard to help enforce it or what are we doing? Picking and choosing what recreational opportunities will be 'allowed' knowing full well biking, hiking and walking will congregate massive crowds is just pissing in the wind.  :twocents:
