Like I said in the op, I don’t know who took it. I only posted those pics because he actually took it off the tree and messed with it. There were two other people on separate occasions on there too but I didn’t post those because I have no proof they did anything wrong. I think his camo jacket is the killik camo from sportsmans.

We have been running trail cams since they first came out and this is the first one that has been stolen. I’m surprised it took this long for it to happen.

Wow as much as it sucks you are lucky that was your first. I have also ran them for years and at least every 2 to 3 years one walks off. I had one stolen off of private property just a few weeks ago. Man that really grinds my gears. So now I am waiting to see if any pic off my missing camera of the very unique animal I had frequenting, no living, on my property show up here or other forums. Just like shoplifters and other tweaker thieves I think we should cut a hand off when caught. Strike two? Well pretty hard to steal with no hands. Maybe cut them a break and have the first violation be a branding of THIEF on their forehead and then start with chopping hands off on the second strike. Seems harsh, but it would solve the problem

How can you conclude that the guy in the pics is a thief?

And I've carried multiple rifles many times.
Usually if someone else is hauling a heavy load of meat.

I do hope the thief gets caught.
I've lost a couple cameras myself.

I just wouldn't accuse anyone without proof.

OP said he isn't sure who took it. I wouldn't say trying to identify a person is calling them a thief.

Agreed.

But a couple posts down he's called a piece of crap and hope he can be identified to be turned in.

I do hope the thief gets caught.
.

Ya, I misread OP. Adjusted my post.

In my opinion even taking the camera off the tree and viewing pics and tampering with it is wrong too. Which is what the original post showed. And later the camera dissapeared. A separate incident which may or may not been related. Either and both incidents are wrong.

If the theft or not the guy in the picture is being a piece of crap by pulling the camera. And his pictures should be posted regardless to shame him from doing so. Not cool to pull pictures from others doing the work.

Just a thought, but just like in the woods, it’s better all around if you can get your cams placed as high as possible.

Yep, I'd put one low and the second one high watching the first camera.

Anything worth more then a nickle will get stollen by some one some time.

Thieves will take aything any time. When placing these trail cams out it is an open invitation for theft. For every low camera there should be a hidden high camera on the low camera.

This always worries me when I see a camera in the woods, I usually give it a thumbs up and wave as I walk by.  Then I wonder if the camera ends up getting stolen and the owner already has my pic will they think it was me?  I still wave and try not to hide from them, but I never mess w them, hope I don’t get accused someday.  Thieves suck!

I've crossed a whole bunch of cameras over the years. I also have seen others cross mine. Giving a good wave has always been my thing too and have seen others do the same. It shows the owner you noticed the camera but showed respect for his property and moved along. What I see with the pics shows why suspicion is taking place. This person came on multiple occasions and pulled the camera from the tree. And later camera came up missing. Although he was not accused of being the actual theft. But rather posted as someone that altered with someone's property and can't be trusted for not just letting it sit. It does raise a bit of suspicion though.

Yup.  Caught this *censored* with my other cam in his hand, but unfortunately was never able to get an id on him.

Have you thought that maybe you can post these pictures on the bulletin boards of several stores and supermarkets? I'm sure the gun shops would oblige you. Such as County Line Shooting Sports in McKenna. It would be very embarrassing to see your pictures on a wall and know your neighbors have seen it also. I have seen this done in many mini-marts around the state.
