Bearpaw Season - Spring 2020

One of my guides nailed a tom this morning, Utah season opened as scheduled.

We have birds lined out in Washington, still hoping season opens after May 4th. The bottom 2 photos are a bearded hen.

Spring bear season is looking promising in Idaho, still have two to three feet of snow in most areas, but on the warm days it's melting fast. Season opens day after tomorrow, we'll use a tracked machine or snowmobile to start baits.

Another one of my guides already saw a bear out in Washington a week and a half ago on that warmest day, hoping WA bear opens in May.

Guide Derek went fishing with a buddy a couple days ago in Montana, these are the four biggest they caught.

We've got plenty of baits out, but there's a lot of snow in the Idaho mountains yet, some of our baits are on top of three feet of snow, not a single bear track at any of our baits yet. In some of the lower areas closer to Lewiston, Orofino, or Riggins the bear are probably coming out but many of the higher areas still have a lot of snow.

Yesterday all day we had a lone tom gobbling his brains out, today, I think it's the same tom has a hen and another tom in tow, and neither tom will gobble at all. Some hunters think the birds shut up because they get hunted, now that these birds have a hen they both shut up even though they aren't being hunted, they are henned up!
