Printing tags
« on: April 24, 2020, 12:53:04 PM »
So I got drawn for multi season elk. I went to the website and bought my tag, and bought into a bunch of drawings I want to enter. After checkout, I get a e-mail.

It says that do to covid19. The state will not be mailing any tags or catch record cards and use the link provided to print your tag or catch record card. Then it goes on to say that you will only get one attempt at printing the tag, if there are any issues you will have to go to a dealer and buy a replacement tag. What the heck. The state charged me a $7.50 dealer fee to mail me tags, and now they won't. Plus I don't what to risk having to buy a replacement multi season elk of the printer messes up. My printer only does black and white with a gray scale.... I don't know how there tag will print like that, or if it will require color? Does anyone know? Or if it comes out in a odd scale when I print it... Just I hate to use a one time link on a $180 tag. I am so ticked at WDFW right now..... No where on the site when I bought my tags did they say ANYTHING about me having to print my own tags with a one time link....

Has anyone printed there own tags on a home printer? Black and white how did it go? Any tips or tricks? If I would have known this going in, I would have went to a dealer.... grrrrrrr so ticked.... Now I am going to have a sheet of paper to try and keep in good enough shape while hunting all season... Keeping it dry and readable should be fun.

Instead of sending it to your printer, "print" it to .pdf file and save it on your computer.  Then, you can do whatever you want and if your printer jams you can do it again.

Funny how backwards this state is, Montana was having you print your own tags also but Because of Covid19 they are now printing your tags and sending them to you

I am not sure how there link works, and I am nervous to click on it, if it's a one time thing. Plus I have never taken a print link and saved it to a .pdf heck of a first time to learn. I am tempted to call my credit card and reverse charges for dishonesty. They aren't providing the service they charged a fee for, and they never stated they where doing this, my printing them on a one time link thing should have been disclosed. I am so ticked I am about done with WDFW.... ever getting one red cent from me. So mad I could spit. Hope someone from WDFW sees this..... This is fraud.

I had to do a few the other day before selecting apps. When I got to the payment page it said what you are describing and I just opened and printed them no big deal.
They are coded and time stamped when you print them so if anyone tries to do bulk printing they will know about it.

The funny thing is they charge the fees then don’t do anything. The big factor is going to be it says these paper tags are good till end of the season or until wdfw resumes! So if they start back up before hunting season I think they will make us turn in the paper tags and get printed licenses and possibly pay more fees.

I printed mine a couple days ago with no issue. Far as I can tell I had to go that route to purchase points as I don't think anywhere is open to buy from.

Do you have to print them after purchase? Seems like that should be an option, especially if they will be replaced once WDFW reopens.

Yes print after purchase says one time chance to print or you will have to do duplicate tags and get charged for it if you fail to print.

Then in the next breath they say good tell the end of the year or wdfw opens. So that makes me think with that wording if they open then they won’t be good and we will have to get regular tags printed. Probably for a few to.

Really a pain if that is the case and already bad they are charging fees when they are not doing anything like printing or mailing tags.

Well they have to charge the fee, that's just part of buying your licenses online. You pay the same fee no matter where you buy your licenses.

They even call them temporary tags in the wording. Really frustrating I’m ok with printing them but not getting charged and having to waste time to replace them and probably get hit with more fees to get the real tags”””

Yes you get charged but both options print or print and mail you your tags.
There is nothing for the “dealer”to do if they are not printing or mailing so there should be no fee.

I thought it was just tags we were having to print at home. Aren't they still mailing the license?
