Pulled bullets now what
« on: June 15, 2020, 06:54:33 PM »
Just curious what everyone does.  I pulled 40 bullets, but got me thinking what to do with the primed cases.  Do you dump powder and seat bullet and go for broke.  If so, do you see any neck tension issues?  Not sure if you can resize, as the mouth of the case hasnt really expanded, and not sure if the mandrel would cause issues going in...

I’ve done it, and resized. Never had a problem. As long as your die is set right should put it right back to where it should be

I usually run thru neck die again tho I don’t think its needed.    I lube necks with liquid graphite so bullets and neck is unscathed.

I might just have to seat and bullet and go for it.  My resizing die also de-primes, so that would be ridiculous to do.  I will shoot a few and see how they match up.

You can just pull the depriming pin out of your die too

Resize with a Lee collet neck sizing die with the decapping pin pulled.

Your neck tension will be different if you just seat a new bullet. Just take the decap pin out of your sizing die and size them again.  :twocents:

Don't have the luxury of being able to have multiple dies for the same cal so I just back off the deprimer pin and run through the die after I dump the powder

the decapper and expander ball are on the same rod.  So wont the neck tension be off without the exander ball as well?

On the Lee, you can pull and replace the pin. Not sure about other dies.

I know it is on the Lee dies.  I deprime, resize and then back at it.  Be very careful on depriming and wear eye and ear protection, but I have done a couple hundred and haven't set one off yet.

Think about a hand deprimer and a different hand primer.   Ditched doing it on the rock crusher and so much quicker and can feeler pockets it they loosen.

Same here.  There may be slight neck tension variations but the results have never shown up on target.

Dream. Got my load dialed in yesterday.  One more trip and I will compare just powder and seating a bullet in them, to brass that hasnt had the bullets pulled just to see.
