Update on the correct dates for the permits... Wdfw sent an email saying they will be sending a corrected permit with the right date on it by next Monday. So I'm guessing the dates in the regs are the true dates.

Well, here it is Tuesday and still haven't heard a thing from Wdfw, except an automated reply. Has anyone heard anything about corrected dates yet?

Yes received a letter from them yesterday with the corrected dates and the usual have to carry this letter with me when in the field, if you have not gotten an email, check your spam, or a letter by Thursday I would call back, and send another email. Best of luck on your hunt!

I had a bull tag in there a while back, shot a spike on the second day. I should have held out but there wasn’t elk everywhere like I expected. Did see a buck tag holder who had just harvested a dandy 4x4. It’s a cool experience for sure, if anyone has any specific questions shoot me a pm. Good luck guys!

I was told they would send it to me by email no later than Monday. Still do not have it and they won't reply to my emails. Not in my mailbox either.

I have had the buck and bull tag.  Here is the photo from the guard shack of each of the kill areas that they have you report once you take an animal.  Orange are the elk harvest and green are the deer.

That map with kills is very interesting. That sure isn’t where I’d be spending my time down in the valley. I could see it for deer a bit more, but for bulls I’d be up high if the snow allows chasing the big boys. I’ve seen a lot of bulls rutting in the valley but I believe they bail out after the rut and gain some serious elevation.

I was in there last year for the buck tag in November. Didn’t see many elk up high most down along the river. We had clear weather with no rain or snow. 6 days didn’t see many elk. There wasn’t a lot of animals killed last year. The cow elk people did ok but the bull elk and buck tags were way down.
If it flies it dies.

Don’t waste your time on the south side...hasn’t been much elk over there for years. The wolves and Indians have chased most elk out of the area by the time you go in.

Well,  on my 3rd email  and 2nd message left for someone there,  I finally got another reply. They said  after  consulting with their licensing people, they've decided they're going to send out hard copies. I know some of you said that you got the email they said they were going to send, but has anybody received a hard copy?

I still haven't received a thing from them. I guess I'll wait another 3 weeks to see if they will send me and my daughter our permits... >:(

Im sorry but... ANYONE who has been in that area and NOT seen multiple shooter bulls need to either have their eyes examined or dont know what they are doing. Both the Headworks and Massey gates are GREAT areas for elk and deer.

And I would take Me Doss up on his offer by the way... he has a specific reason to have so much experience in the area.

Are you talking about the Massey gate?

Way overrated buck and bull tag.  For bucks, I wouldn’t waste my time if it was a open unit, for bulls, not much better.... for all you “great quality tag “ folks, hang pics of what the unit produces... thanks

Wow... thanks for your input. My daughter and I are still going to make a go of it. Good to have people like you around though.

Go get em tiger!!
Congrats to you and your daughter should be a great hunt.
You'll be out there with family nothing better than that
My daughters are my hunting partners
I'm your dam tour guide Arnie please don’t wonder off the dam tour.
Take as many dam pictures as you want ....
Are there any dam questions ..
