Leftover Multi-Season

Sheesh, how could they have not known they were going to get a ton of calls?  Maybe the theory was that this would be the one thing in the whole country having to do with outdoors that wasn't going to be hugely popular.

Because it has never ever been an issue before.  They have never sold out, even on Dec 30th there are normally tags left, so why would they think it would sell out in hours?...  I know I never would have thought it possible.

I tried to put up a bit of a fight, I think that's the reason for the explanation given.
I told him I feel like I did what I was told to do on Monday.
I'm over it now. I have never got a Bear before. Now I have a reason to focus on them until October rolls around.

They have had record license sales, other states have sold out quicker, and basically everything having to do with the outdoors is flying off the shelves.

Fishing participation is probably 2-3x last year.  EVERYTHING outdoors is gangbuster, tents, RVs, boats, fishing, hunting, hiking, everything.

At the end of the day, how could they justify not having a system to sell the available licenses?  As someone that doesn't participate, if you take a step back and think about a system where you are supposed to go to Walmart and hand your old tag in and then have them call WDFW to process it?  Seriously, that's the system?

Now, there are people that paid to enter, followed the process which included an opportunity to by leftovers and didn't get a license.  That sounds like a pretty foul deal, if it was a private entity they would call it fraud.

Yes, it's a very messed up way to sell the leftovers. It's too complicated. I think someone else mentioned this previously, but it should be just a permit, not an entirely new tag. Just like a regular special permit, which now is just an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper. Let people keep the tag they already have, and use it during any of the seasons. Yes, it will have archery, muzzleloader, or modern firearm printed on it, but so what? Your separate piece of paper that says Multi Season Permit makes the tag you have valid during all seasons. Better yet, let people use a photo of the permit that they can keep on their phone, so they don't have to worry about keeping the permit with them at all times.

This would eliminate the hassle of having to turn in the tag you already have before you can purchase the new tag.

I’ve wrote wdfw asking why this is done like this and it’s no different than having to carry your special permit with you when you draw a tag. Wdfw has to make it so difficult

A couple times while purchasing this tag in the past, the dealers we completely unaware that they were supposed to take my original tag. I think this happens frequently.


I know someone in this thread even mentioned that they now have two tags since the first one wasn't taken. One is null and void but I'm sure that's not stopping a lot of people from using them.

I managed to get one yesterday also. It took some effort though. I had tried on Tuesday right when it opened but was unable to online like the rest of us. I called and sat on hold for an hour and had to leave for a meeting before getting anyone to pick up. I left a message that afternoon on another phone call. I went down in person on Wednesday morning and the dealer found out they were sold out when he called to give them my rifle tag number. Then I heard from another member on here he got his tag after I initially had went down in person and was told they were sold out. I called again with a different number and got someone to pick up. Luckily I had remembered the ladies name that I eventually got through to to leave a message with on Tuesday. I gave the new lady that name and the date and time I had called and left the message. She put me on hold for 45 minutes while she tried to track down her boss and then she hung up on me by mistake. After another call I found out I was able to get a tag because I had contacted them the day they went on sale. They had reserved some tags for people who had called in or emailed and did not get responses. The usual BS with WDFW:)

I did not even have the option in my profile online to buy it. Did you not apply for a deer special hunt? I guess if you had a tag already the option was not available online.

Ya I realize my second tag isn’t Actually valid. But buying the multi season in person was one of the easiest permit transaction I have had.

I was less than 6hrs.  I was going to buy when I got home @4pm and  they were long gone.
