Wife’s first archery deer!
« on: September 10, 2020, 07:30:35 PM »
Well.... not many men can say they’ve sat in a blind and watched their wife shoot a buck with her bow. Not many women can say they’ve shot a deer with a bow and fewer a mature blacktail. Today this all happened. After a few days of hunting it all came together. It was amazing seeing this unfold. The buck came out in front of us at 10 yds slowly walking. Katie drew back her bow and he stopped to look at us. I waited in anticipation to watch and hear the arrow hit its mark. After a short pause nothing had happened... I looked to my right and she wasn’t at full draw, only partially drawn. He had caught her movement before she was completely drawn so she held to keep from spooking him. Finally, the deer put his head down and began to walk again. Katie slowly let down her draw then drew back again. He had stopped again hearing the slightest noise. This time she was at full draw and completely composed. Much more than me.. lol. I again focused my attention to the buck and the arrow was released and flew true to its mark at 17yds. The buck hunched down as he was hit and ran a short distance before expiring. Katie and I have shared many adventures together hunting and fishing. This one definitely sits amongst the top.

Very awesome!  Ther is zero chance my wife will ever go hunting with me (which is OK by me), but I'm hoping at least 1 daughter will take to it and I can experience a similar situation.  Way to get er done!

Super nice early season buck.  Congrats to her.

How did you cut the deer north - south?  Sawzall?    I like it!
