Congrats. That's a great looking bull. And hat's off for pulling it off solo, that's a ton of work. Good job.

Heres the recap. I hunted with a couple friends for the first 6 days. It was pretty warm out and the moose activity for us we felt was pretty slow. We hunted hard from morning till dark. Our efforts turned up two small bulls. We got trail cam pics of some real solid bulls but they were only moving at night, and we couldn't get them to respond to calling. We were fairly certain we knew where they were holing up during the day, but we couldn't pull them out.
So we decided to take a couple days off and let the heat break as the forecast was for rain and cooler temps starting on saturday the 10th. They both had prior commitments over the weekend and I couldn't just stay home so I came back solo on thursday night. I checked my trail cameras on friday and found the same results with only pics at night. I decided to leave this area and go for a drive on saturday and check out some new areas. The rain was forecasted to let up in the afternoon, so I planned an afternoon hunt. I ran into fellow member Escene on the way and *censored*ted him for a bit. I parked my truck and starting walking the road into some clearcuts and immediately ran into this bull. 147 yard shot did the trick. I carry a lot of rope and two blocks. With some interesting rigging and breaking the rope twice I was able to drag him whole down to within 20 yards of the road. That took 2.5 hours. It took me 3.5 hours to quarter him up and remove neck meat, straps, tenderloin and heart. It was quite the adventure. I was very fortunate I wasn't farther from the road.
Thanks for all the assistance I got back from those who I talked and texted with on the phone. It all helped. I hope the other tag holders are all successful.

Definitely unlike anything else I’ve ever smelled. And it’s really hard to explain. Real musty almost like cat piss, but with kind of a sweet smell that kind a reminded me like horse manure has. After bringing my moose home my canopy that is carpeted on top smelt like it for a month every time I opened it. Man I can’t wait to go moose hunting again!

Yep, cat piss, good thing he washed a bit of it off in the wet brush. You did real good by yourself, that is a lot of work. Congrats
