Daughters first deer

I almost didn’t post this but I have to, I’m just so proud of her! My 9 year old daughter shot her first deer sunday! We had an eventful weekend with plenty of opportunities. She made me proud and passed up some easy does first thing wanting to kill a buck. We spotted a good one but didn’t get a shot before he went over the ridge and got shot by another hunter. Later that afternoon we spotted some does but buck fever got the best of her and she missed. Sunday morning found us in the same area and lots of does out in the wheat stubble(she drew a mule deer doe tag) we made a plan and started our hunt. Another missed shot, right over the back! Next draw over I spotted another and we stalked up to about 130yds, she got set up and I was talking her through the shot, she shot right over her back and the hillside erupted with deer. Another big doe came running up from the bottom and I said get on her and wait until she stops. When she did I said breathe, slowly squBOOM! The deer dropped in its tracks. She started laughing and yelling uncontrollably with excitement, she started crying, I started crying, my buddy started crying. It was my favorite hunting experience to date without a doubt! I couldn’t be more proud of her and can’t wait for our future hunting together. 160yds ruger American 6mm creedmoor 105gr bergers.

Nice! Thanks for sharing, love seeing the kids get started.

As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when. No habitat = no game.

Last night we cut and wrapped her whole deer. She is sure proud of all the meals she provided for our family!
