Roads are wet but otherwise very good condition for this time of year.  All the snow that came two weeks ago is gone.  We have been cruising Slide Ridge and with chains could make it all the way over.  With that said it was snowing today at 5500ft.   We are not seeing the rut activity that we saw 10 days ago.  The temps have been in the low 50's and the wind has been howling.  Weather forecast looks better in next week.

My old man is heading over today and planning on staying through the season. I’ll be joining him for the final week. Sounds like we need snow 🤞

Heading over tonight.

It is going to take more coordination and sign off to pull the trigger on a deer this weekend than launching a nuclear warhead.

I will have my bow, buddy will have my rifle, another one will have shooting sticks and my wife will have the bullets.  I hope I assigned the right people to the job.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

And magically, out of the mist, that 200"+ plus giant will materialize. Unapproachable at 289yds. By the time you establish protocol, work through the logistics, and get in position to roll, he will be gone. Never to be seen again... :chuckle:

Best of luck with your tag! Hope to see a great story and pictures when it is all done!

:chuckle: Seems about right for 2020.  Maybe I get the green light and just as I am about to squeeze off the shot a murder hornet stings me.

So I have another thread going detailing my special permit which allows me to hunt this unit and chiwawa.

https://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,248713.0.html

I will say for this unit and the other one I can hunt the deer haven’t shown up in large numbers yet. There are deer there but they are not in large numbers. Two bucks have been taken as far as I can tell. One was taken Saturday morning and one was taken Saturday afternoon.  Not sure what happened last week but I have to believe at least one more buck was taken.

This guy was 200 yards off the road Saturday midday but nowhere to be seen Sunday.

This guy was 40 yards off the road Sunday afternoon.

These were two of the best bucks I saw in this unit. Pretty slow right now. Hoping the snow next weekend helps.

Looking good for archery guys. BTW my tag allows me to hunt archery season with archery equipment which is my true passion. I hunted this weekend with the bow in hand even though it was rifle season.

That second buck has crazy long main beams before the first Y. Lots of mass and great eye guards. It’s like he started off strong and just ran out of food later on in a let development. Just weird but a really cool buck that I would have shot in a heartbeat with a general season tag. Eithrr buck would have hit the dirt with a general tag.
