I'm interested in the responses you get, I'm in the market as well. Slightly lower budget. This is what I'm leaning towards at the moment.

I’d look at a Vortex Razor Gen 1 85.

It’s big and heavy but it has the same glass as the Gen 2 and is still covered by vortex’s warranty. I’ve seen them from 6-900.

The functionality of a 85 is far superior to a 60-65 unless weight is a concern.

You could pick up a good used Leupold gold ring hd for that.

Save a couple hundred more and look for a used Swaro. :twocents:

Anyone who is a veteran or LE (IIRC) should check out Leupold's VIP pricing.  I estimate that it is about 30-40% off lowest retail and is a game changer on high dollar optics.

Sportsmans Warehouse has the gen 1 Razor 20-60x85mm for $750. 65oz though. But for range and general non back country hunting you will be hard pressed to find something better for $750. And if for some reason it gets smashed they will ship you a new one.

Check the optics classifieds on rokslide. eBay has some decent deals as well.

Gen 2 razor 65mm spotter over on rokslide at the moment.

Look for some used spotters it will get you into a better piece of glass...

:fire.:

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield
