Do a bunch of google searching and listen to a bunch of bear hunting podcasts. There’s way too much info on the web to need someone to help you personally.

Fall bears are keyed into food. Find the ripe berries, east or west side, and you'll find the bears.

Saylean on this site wrote a fantastic book on bear hunting a few years called The Ultimate Guide to Bear Hunting. I’d look him up & see if there’s still a way to buy the book. It’s a great book & worth every penny if you can get it.

In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

There is another great book called Flowers and Bears. This guy probably harvested more bears than anyone in the state ever. If I remember right, he helped develop the pellets for feeding stations to keep bears off of Weyerhauser's young trees. It has been several years since I read the book.

Yes, that book is awesome. I read it as a teenager after finding it at a used bookstore in Seattle. Called "The Education of A Bear Hunter." Not necessarily a how-to book for bear hunting, but you'll learn a lot from hearing his stories hunting coastal black bears in the Copalis area. Very fun read.

Hafthard, did you apply for spring bear this year? It's possible to draw your first year and in my opinion, your chances with a spring tag are the best.

:yeah:  If you're up to a road trip, I might have a deal on a campsite and support on a archery hunt.   ;)
