Drew Huckleberry with 6pts! I am very excited as this is in our regular  turkey area. We have come across some bear in the past but any additional pointers from previous tag holders would be much appreciated.

9 points and not a damn thing for my wife or myself.  We both put in for the Blues and I thought one of us would draw for sure.

If I get a spring permit and harvest a bear, I'll pack out the hide good or bad, report to WDFW, and keep it quiet on HW.    :)  WDFW, you listening?

You guys/gals crack me up being surprised you didn’t draw the Blues.  Understand even if you had 10 points going in this year, outside of Wenaha who draws way more tags, understand your odds still sucks.

Blue Creek about 20%
Dayton 10-15%
Tucannon 7-8%
Wenaha - 40%
Mountain View/Lick Creek - 33%

Point being enough people are applying for very few tags in a mature system, you aren’t going to hunt very often.  You need 15 points minimum to even give yourself a 50/50 shot.

The bonus point system we have gives everybody a shot which is great, and slightly rewards those odds each year you don’t draw, but as you can see with all the folks who drew with 2 points, the system is set up to pretty much be a random draw (like a system with no points) in the tougher to draw units!

I personally think the system is better than many out there if you are new to the game but you shouldn’t ever expect to draw anything with this system.  It is more like a lottery!

I was drawn for 49 degrees north with 2 points as my second choice. I guess I need to figure out where that is 😬

Its just above 48 degrees north

Thanks. I’ll just follow the signs.

A buddy and I drew 49 as well. I deer hunt up there so know the area pretty well. We can share intel if you want

That would be cool. I’ll be up there late may. Never set foot in the unit.

One of the best ways to scout is with a tag in your pocket.

Selected. Bear River.2 points. I  suppose I should do some research. Thought I'd try something closer to home rather than over east.

Not selected for dad,  me, or hunting buddy.   Son drew though,  so he'll turkey hunt and bear hunt at the same time.
