Toyota Quality

Nearly a million miles for me on Toyota's and a lot of the miles have been hard. Replaced a set of heads on a 3.0, a clutch on another, and and a few cv axles from torn boots is about it for issues other than suspension parts from abuse. I'd consider the quality control at the top end. Guess I must be one of the "Fanboyz" you're referring to since they've been dependable for me?

Been a Toyota family for 15 plus years....had an FJ that took a shot from a pos car, spun our rig 180 degrees,  family walked away 100% unscathed.  Love our Tundra.  Been a Lexus employee for going on 20 years. Every brand has issues at times. Every brand has recalls. I'd stand behind the Toyota brand all day and can say 100% that Lexus as a manufacturer allows us to do things on behalf of owners that are way beyond most othee brands domestic or luxury.

New Toyota owner here, I can tell you I’m a big time fanboy. Came from a 15 Silverado 1500 Z71 to this and there is no looking back.

I had a 1990 for about ten years, sold it for what I paid for it.  Only break down was a snapped torsion bar, which was a $300 fix IIRC.  I went over a huge RR crossing in S. Seattle and - my fault - the too loose timing belt slipped a notch or too.  It still ran.  Ran rough.  But I got home and was able to repair.  It was one of the most solid and dependable vehicles I have ever owned, and I would buy another in a heartbeat.

Sorry, OP, that you have such extreme butthurt over your experiences, but it is hardly indicative of the brand, no matter the number of childish allusions you want to make about people who've had good experiences.

I just sold a 2001 Tacoma for $7K that I bought for $20K in 2001. It had 250K miles. I estimate the total cost I put into it (other than fuel) including tires, oil changes, batteries etc. was around $7k. $13K in depreciation and $7K in additional costs. That turns out to be $.08 a mile over the life of the vehicle. I'll take that Cost Of Ownership any day.

Toyota\Lexus are No.1 in quality ask any mechanic.  The only question is wether it is worth the price.

I had a 2013 Tacoma 4dr Off Road pkg.  Bought it new and had it till I traded it in on a new GMC AT4 a year ago this past Dec.  The Tacoma was a decent enough little truck.  The 4.0L IMO was kind of a weak suck motor so I had a TRD Supercharger installed on it shortly after buying it which made a pretty significant power difference. 

It drove fine but the suspension sucks and was a harsh ride.  Had it in the shop for a couple little warranty issues but no big deal it happens with all of them.  Everyone talks them up like they are the second coming of Christ but I gotta be honest, even though it had every option except a sun roof you could get it was probably the most basic no frills vehicle I've owned in a long time.  I sometimes wonder if that's part of Toyota's plan though, keep them more basic with less options available and it is just that much less sh1t to go wrong down the road. 

I will say, the one thing I do miss about my Tacoma was when it came to up in the woods driving being that they are a mid size sure has its advantages so I do miss the smaller size compared to my new full size truck.  Otherwise there is nothing I miss about it.

Had a 2000 Tacoma, sold it in '05 when I 'upgraded' top a full size diesel to tow, then bought a used 2010 in 2013 to use as a commuter, which I'm still driving. Both were solid, never had any serious breakdowns or issues. Like most vehicles, if you take care of it and do the required maintenance it will last you a long time. I guess I probably have put close to 200k miles on my two Tacomas without major issues.  I have also had a '94 Toyota Hilux, a 1998 Runner, and a 1973 FJ40, so you could say I'm somewhat of a 'fanboy', or at least a consumer who has been sold on the quality of Toyota vehicles.

I agree, none of the new trucks out there are worth what they are being sold for, but the Tacomas are solid and I would (will) buy another in a heartbeat. Just lightly used and much cheaper than new...

Driven many many miles on these "roads" and worse.  I have a roof rack, haul stuff, tow, offroad and have had 0 issues with my 2017 crewmax or any Toyota previous to this one.  Was just inspecting the underside while changing my oil and no rust or issues.  Still rock solid.

I’ve had 4 Toyota’s so far. A  4Runner  that I rolled in my early 20s. Great vehicle before that. A 2002 Tacoma that I still have. 212k on it. An 07 sequoia with 165k on it, wife’s daily driver. Lastly a 2013 tundra that I’ve got 110k on. All great vehicles. Little to no problems, mostly basic maint. I’d stand by Toyota’s any day and put them next to any other brand as far as reliability goes. Great vehicles

you want my honest opinion. i had a 2005 tacoma and it was a pos. in all honesty it was. the second gens are not a great rig. the 3rd gens seem to be alright but only time will tell. by my first gen is by far my favoret truck i have owned. the quilty of the toyota is honestly unmatched if you think about it, and there are plenty of toyotas driving around with half million on the clock. only issue i realy have with toytoas is i wish they would use better paint and a little bit better rear suspension
