New Kimber 3" K6S DA/SA
« on: March 20, 2021, 04:06:09 PM »
Well, I gave in to temptation and bought a new Kimber K6S DA/SA 3" .357 mag.  I was waffling on which
.357 to buy, and decided on this one:

I've put a few rounds through it, and it seems to be a very nice gun.  Recoil is substantial with the various .357 mag., self-defense rounds.  I've put some .38 Sp +P+ through it, and I really like those.  Just need more practice with it.  Good thing I reload given todays ammo prices.

Picked up the 3" DAO version a month ago and really like it. It's a J-frame in size and a K-frame in shootability. I wish there were more revolver choices with the same 3 dot Novak style sights. Easy to pick up and very snag free.

Nice! Looks about the same as my King Cobra without the wood grips and appears to be about the same size/weight. These lighter guns loaded with heavy .357 loads give your hand a pretty good snap when fired. Does the rear sight adjust or is it frozen like the King Cobra's unless you buy the four inch target version?

The sights are fixed, just like the King Cobra.  It is around 4 oz. lighter than the King Cobra......that is basically the reason I went with it.  I was looking for a King Cobra before I ran into the Kimber.  The full .357 loads are not brutal, but the .38 Sp +P+ loads are way more manageable.

Though they are not as nice looking as the wood grips, the Kimber Control Core grips are really effective at reducing recoil.  I threw a pair on mine then shot 25 rounds of 180 cast / 15.5 gr lil' gun, basically the Buffalo Bore equivalent, and it was not bad at all.  They're pretty inexpensive if you decide they aren't for you.

Very nice.  Congratulations on the new shooter.

Thank you.  It will replace my S&W 342PD, which is just not fun to shoot.  The 342PD is great in an ankle holster, but standard loads are brutal, and +P are just downright painful.
