Big Bait=Big Fish

I have heard that if you want to catch Big Fish, you need to use a Big Bait.
I'm not sure that was what this guy had in mind.

Everybody who has ever been on a commercial boat has seen a variation of this.  Here in the Puget Sound it is very common to see salmon missing the bottom halves of their bodies.  Durned seal have to eat, I know, I hear it all the time.  You might hate gill nets, but seals love them, they act like spider webs.

I longlined back in the "Derby Days" when Halibut seasons were 48, 24, and 12 hours long, the WORST thing was hook after hook with a big head, or just lips attached.  Shine a light out and there is a pod of Orca that is picking fish off your groundline.  Sometimes, they'd just take a big bite out of it, which was just as bad.  I always wondered how much of the quota went to them.  They'd do the same with Black Cod, only the season didn't close the next day, so you had a chance to get away from them (until they found you again).

Doesn't even have to be deep.  I watched a bull killer whale blow through the surf and end up on the beach to get some salmon.  Then it had to flop around to get back in the water so it could do it a dozen more times.

Ditto. When I was a kid we were on vacation in Myrtle Beach and someone got bit by a shark on the beach we were on.  Done. I’m out.

Seiners in SE talk about humpbacks, which have become accustomed to the seasonal harvests in front of the hatcheries.  Whales just gather in front of the boats that gather in front of the schooling fish.  Better than the buffet line at Applebie's!

Same here, the movie jaws ruined it for me.  I don't even like my toes dangling down in a deep lake!!  What is weird though, I love diving.  Last time I dove in mexico we swamp over a nurse shark, guess they are pretty mello.  I'd rather be under the water than on top with my feet down.
