August 1 Plans?
« on: July 09, 2021, 04:49:53 PM »
Does anyone have any August 1 plans?  I'm planning to head out 31 July to set up a high camp in the Alpine Lakes for a few days and be in place to shoot Smoky at around 530am on the 1st.  Anyone else have plans?  Anyone else worried about Smoky being smoked out by then also?  Also curious if the various tree farms will all be closed for fire danger for most of August.  Cheers...

My brother will be over and I’m hoping I can get him on his first bear. He’s had more close chances than I can count over the years and feeling like this will be the year for him. Just have to make sure I don’t shoot it first  :)

My deer spot is drowning in bears. My step dad has one coming on to his property that has him concerned. I doubt it will be exactly the 1st but close there abouts I'll be in a stand waiting for smoky.

I'll probably go out a little in August.
After shooting at two different bears this spring season and screwing that up. Then at the very end of spring bear I had some health issues come up .
So I'll be looking at some redemption. But I'm not gonna push myself to hard in the fall season.
If I see one I'll send some lead.
Wish we would get like a day of rain ,so I can go target shoot at some longer distance.

I have been scouting an area and going back up tomorrow for the 1st, but my best area doesn't come on until the berries are ripe the end of august...
Guess thats why you get 2 tags :)

Planning on bear hunting/elk scouting.  I think I'll be in some og creek bottoms with the huckleberries.

I've never killed a bear in August. Too hot for making meat for me.

I’ve got two bears on camera and one I’ve seen while driving up to my spot, tempted
To find a different place for the opener though. Don’t want to ruin the elk hunting.
