Leftover Multi Season Deer
« on: July 25, 2021, 05:36:01 PM »
Does anybody have any intel on when the state is going to sell these leftover tags?  Couldn't find anything on their stellar website.

I believe that the  sale for people who drew is the 30th of July.  So nothing until after the cutoff date.

It's going to depend on how many are left, they can either sell them over the counter or do a second chance draw. There won't be any notice until the date passes for 1st raffle winners to buy theirs.

This is the first time I have ever heard of a second chance draw? Anyone else ever hear of this before?
Anyone interested don’t slack on buying asap for leftovers. Sold out fast last year.

I can't remember where I read it, possibly in the regulations, but I recall that this year it would be a second draw for the leftover multi season tags, rather than an open sale.

Edit: I just checked the regulations again and I couldn't confirm the redraw. The regs say the leftovers may be sold on a first come, first served basis.

They did it last year because of Covid.  Wouldn't be surprised to see it again, since WDFW offices seem to be still closed to walk-in.  Knocked my odds down of getting one, but seems a lot fairer way of doing it.  I've purchased the MS deer already, but would love to have the MS elk.

Can you buy them from any licensing place such as Big 5 once they go on sale?

You can if they are available. You have to bring in your deer tag and turn the old tag in.

last year you had to turn your tag in to the game Dept either by computer or your phone before you get the multi season tag , they would not exchange at the counter

I've done it several times now, even pre Covid.  The state issues an email, if you're on their email list, about August 10th or so, and they have a sale on August 17th-18th.  You have to have applied for the special tag to be eligible to purchase the leftover tag.

I went to my local tag getting store and waited in a short line.  One older gentleman had been there since the store opened that morning.  He said he just about get's his multi season elk tag every year doing it this way.  When I'm retired I'm gonna be like that guy.  Then go fishin.

Last year I walked into a convenience store bought the multi season tag and walked out with two deer tags in my pocket. So I don’t believe this is true. Although they are supposed to take your deer tag from you.

Your non-multi season tag was no longer valid.

Correct. But I still had it.
