Good Vet in Seattle Area
«

So, from a search it looks like this topic has been beat to death pretty well however most of the posts were pretty old so I figured I'd put it out there and see if anyone has any recent info. I noticed from one of the older posts that Jeb Mortimer had a good review so I'll probably start there. However if anyone has any good bird dog vet recommendations in the Seattle area I would love to hear them.

Shop around outside Seattle, you'd be amazed how much more expensive for a vet in Seattle for no good reason.
We live out near Squak mountain and take our pets to Cedar River Animal Hospital. They have been great, but not tested with anything beyond routine check-ups. However, our friends in Seattle started driving out to them when they found out their dental procedure was thousands less at our vet at Cedar River than the 3 they got quotes from in Seattle. FYI.

Reber Ranch in Kent has provided excellent routine care.

Good luck getting appointments. I just booked my dogs' appt and most clinics are running 10-12wks out.

You may not need anything this drastic, but the best vet oncologist (cancer) is BARC in Edmonds. You can get appointments within a day and they are awesome for treating cancer. Nobody on the Westside is better. Avoid bluepearl or anyone in that system is my strong opinion.
If it's just for vaccines, good neighbor vet mobile vaccination clinics are by far the cheapest route.

All good info! Thanks. Yes, vet costs in Seattle are pretty crazy. Couple that with a S/O who has never shown hypochondriac like tendencies until we got the dog and the bills are rolling in. Really though I would just like someone who understands hunting dogs a little better and isn't trying to up sell at every turn. Hopefully I don't ever need the oncologist but good to know there is one recommended.

I take my shorthair to eastlake vet Dr. Mark D’Orazio, started out of convenience since it was on the way to work. He used to work on bear dogs and used to hunt, gave me some extra clavamox (oral antibiotic) for field treatment, waived an appointment fee for a really short visit.
Its not cheap but I luckily go 1.25 times a year probably average $200 per visit, 60 for the vets time and then costs for other services like a fecal test for worms, vaccines etc. I'm sure dental procedures are painful on the wallet there but I clean and brush my dogs teeth myself so I've never been recommended a dental visit.

Awesome, thanks. Was really hoping for a rec in the city. I have no issues going taking her out of the city for anything major but having someone decent near home is a major plus. Thanks again.

For my personal dogs and client dogs I use Klahaya Animal Hospital in Snohomish. Dr. Thoreson donated his time to put on a First Aid Clinic as a fundraiser for hunting and testing dogs this past year.
I've been very happy with them.

When we lived there we used Aerowood Animal Hospital in Bellevue. They have after hours for emergencies, which my lab and GSP both needed over the years multiple times. But they did well in caring for our dogs in regular vet care. Then when my GSP had a spinal cord stroke (FCE) we started taking the dogs to Animal Wellness and Rehab off 112th Ave in Bellevue (at Aerowood's recommendation). As my GSP had to go for accupuncture and underwater treadmill to learn how to walk again, then after he finished his course of treatments we just kept taking them there as they are a regular vet as well.
