Anyone try RL 17

Tried some RL 17 yesterday, it really smokes em. 300wsm 180grn accubonds 3040fps. Not grouping well though. Going to try some partitions today. Anyone shoot 17? What bullets do you use.

i have been thinkin about switching to it for a little while now but i am reluctant because what I use now works great on the 270 wsm. The only thing is, is that it is nearly impossible finding imr 4350 these days. Let us know how you do but if the accubonds wont group I dont think I will try it. How many grains of powder are you using.

I used 66 grns. I am going to try the accubonds in 180 and 200 grn again it was pretty windy yesterday.

Shot 165 grain partitions 68 grn of 17 didnt group. 180 partitions 66 grn of 17 didnt group. Loaded 180 accubonds again added .5 grains to 66.5 of RL 17 1" group 3015fps avg.

I bought 6 lbs. of RL17 but I cannot find enough recipes for it yet. where did you get the nosler load data from?

That seems like a fast powder to be using with the 300 WSM to me. RL19 would be about as slow as I would go, and RL22 might even be worth a try. But I don't have any sort of 300 magnum so I could be wrong.

they say the 17 is the new thing for wsm calibers. I dont know that much about it yet though. 66 grains for that velocity is pretty good.

Me too, I roll with the 300WSM in Tikka T3 Lite. I am looking for a load also

I just came from the alliant site. all of their 300WSM data is for Speer bullets, no Nosler data

the brand of bullet doesnt really matter to me much, just the weights. It gives you something to start with.
