30 Ducks Down Video
« on: December 02, 2021, 06:57:35 AM »
This video has cursing and drinking of alcohol while hunting with shotguns in its content.  If this offends you don’t watch it.  It is rated “Not for kids”

Weather conditions were ideal for our duck hunt Friday after Thanksgiving.  North wind about 15 steady with overcast skies, perfect.  We had good amounts of teal and big ducks on the move right from the beginning of the hunt.  We had been doing well in this spot so we had all of us in one blind for the hunt.  Lots of fun cutting up, hunting, eating and some cold beer.  We hunted until 10:00am.

After the hunting part in the latter part of the video we have to back out of our spot because the trenasse we use we can’t turn around.  The motor is a 2007 36HP Pro Drive surface drive with manual full power reverse and manual trim getting it done.  She is still going strong after all these years with lots of duck hunts in the slop.

The video shows us shooting 30 ducks which was surprising to me.  Even more of a surprise was the very next day four of us went to the same spot on another good day for a duck hunt and shot 1 duck.  Makes no sense at all.

Numbers of ducks taken in that spot since opening day – 24 – 5 – 24 – 24 – 24 – 5 – 6 – 30 – 1 - 5

Happy Hunting

Is it legal to hunt under the influence in Louisiana?  If not, this should be removed.

Did I miss something? Just becuase you drive your boat backwards and wear your coat on the outside of your waders doesn't make you drunk.

Looked like fun time to me! Where do you find those Cajun pickled quail eggs? Those had me salivating and I've never ever had pickled quail eggs :EAT:

Hate to tell you this but being "under the influence" does not mean drunk. If you are drinking or consuming alcohol it is influencing you. I dont know about the legality but it sure seems like a weird thing to put on the internet. Im sure its done a lot and im pretty sure i dont agree with mixing alcohol and firearms. Imagine if you had a "acccident" while drinking. Would you ever not wonder if the "accident" would have happened had you been sober? I certainly wouldnt hunt with someone who was drinking while shooting.

I didn't watch the video and don't intend to.  But if it "has cursing and drinking of alcohol while hunting with shotguns in its content" and it is rated “Not for kids”, does it belong on HuntWA?

I'll leave that up to the Mods.

I hunted with a guide in eastern WA. Very reputable. I was in the spot they were planning on hunting. Stayed the night in our spot in January. Frozen reservoir. So they showed up at 4am like wtf?! I said go ahead and hunt with us. They had some wine with lunch. Let’s be realistic, how many guys CC and go have a beer? Or drive their truck home after one or two. I’m not supporting it but I’m also not going to look down my nose at someone. Every situation is completely different. Many variables. Enjoying a nice cold beer in a duck blind with friends, go for it. Getting tossed and rowdy. Hell no

not the same as actively drinking while shooting. All before 10am.... i get the different situations. I certainly wouldnt post videos online of me drinking and shooting. Thats just me. i also wouldnt post videos of me drinking in a vehicle. others can do as they please. just doesnt seem smart

"Under the influence" means a blood/alcohol level of 0.08% OR if the alcohol impairs you in any way. 1 or 2 beers is not going to impair a Southern Louisianan. I'm pretty sure when you ask for "water" at a restaurant down there, they bring you a cold brew.

I think the same law applies in WA where you can drink and hunt as long as you are not "under the influence," but I could be easily wrong on that one...

Depends on when the test was done.  If it was done more than two hours after the activity (hunting), any in other cases a result greater than 0.0 can be used as evidence that the person was above 0.08 at the time of the infraction.  RCW 46.61.502(4)(a).

Either way, drinking and guns don't belong together.  This comes from a guy that enjoys his libations, just never while the guns are out.

I’d enjoy a duck hunt with a bunch of happy Cajuns
Looks like a good time
Yes they should have waited on the beers until after noontime
I’ll give you that
But thinking about some of the trigger happy uptight dbags I’ve encountered, I’ll take the happy Cajuns who drank a couple of beers any day.
And no I don’t hit the booze until we are done for the day either

In the state of Louisiana it is not illegal to consume alcoholic beverages while shooting a firearm. However it is illegal to be intoxicated - drunk while shooting a firearm.  Since it is not illegal it is a matter of preference.  It is smart maybe not?  However, the guys I hunt with are experienced hunters and consumers while hunting. We have been doing this a long time and its a lot of fun.  Different strokes different folks.

Here where I live bars are open 24 hours a day seven days a week.  If you can't moderate your drinking its not a good place to live.  I would suggest 75% of the blinds here have drinking going on, it is a way of life down here. What we do is just another day.

Despite the drinking I hope you all enjoyed the duck hunting and being outdoors part of the video.  We are lucky to be a part of the Mississippi River delta, truly a sportsman's paradise.

Happy Hunting

Different culture for sure.

As I recall, you can get a margarita at drive thru stands.    That really shocked me.

I didn't see any unsafe behavior.

I did see a lot of ducks dying and one pissed off hunting partner, LOL.

Good quality video.

I feel like all this is is some guy from LA using any hunting site he can find to try and build his YouTube subscriber base.

While I'm sure the average person from LA might not be offended by this, there is an overwhelming majority in our state that would.  I think we're better off without this kind of content on Hunt-Wa.
