No G1's
« on: May 07, 2009, 12:09:33 AM »
If you are scoring a deer and it is missing its G1's do you still get both mass measurements.  H1 and H2.  Or should I say all four mass measurements.

Thanks

You will always have four circ. measurements no matter what.  If there is no G-1 present then take the circumference at the smallest point between the burr and G2 and use this measurement as H1 and H2.  Hope this helps.  Have Fun! :)

That is what I thought.  But a buddy told me I was wrong unless they had changed it in the last couple of years.

Thanks

Don't get too hung up on the g1 measurements, if you see a buck that is 18, 12 and 12 you had better drop it regardless whether it has brow tines or not, and as far as mass goes, it adds to total score and looks way impressive but is not as crucial as main length and inside spread for a high score :twocents:

Ryan and you are correct, your buddy is wrong.  Same with not having the 4th point, or one of the other G's. You still get 4 mass measurements.

So where do you get the H3 measurement on a three point with no G3?

I believe its half the distance from teh end point and the base of the tine.  That then equals both H measurements.

Wow, I honestly did not know this.... So lets say I have a 5-point bull. I always figured I couldnt get an H-4. But I just take the distance between the daggar and the beam tip, cut it in half and take my girth measurement there?

Bone is correct you take the distance from the tip of the point to the baseline at cut it in half and that is your H-3

Go from the center of the G-4's baseline to the tip of the beam and cut it in half, this will be your H-4 measurement.

You will always have 4 circ. measurements.  Have Fun :)
