Need Rod Blank Help
« on: May 15, 2009, 02:52:23 PM »
I am in need of pre-built upper rod ends.  I have two butt sections off from a Lamiglass (expired warranty) and a Shimano IM6.  Both upper halfs are smoked and not useable.  The Lamiglass broke in half and the Shimano is in two pieces.  I am looking for pre-build upper ends.  Any suggestions on where to look.  Oh both rods are MH 8'6" casting rods.  I have found full blanks, but I only need the upper end.  These are only 100 dollar rods total, but I don't want to throw them out.

If you are anywhere near Woodland, stop by the Lamiglass factory.  They have a barrel of "seconds" that you can pick through.  Every rod I have built has been on Lamiglass "seconds".  They used to go from $5-$25 depending on the rod and the flaw.

The Lamiglas shop is at about exit 20 on I-5.  G-Loomis is across the way off down river dr.  You probably could get both pieces at one shop or a trip on either side of the free way.  Anglers work shop next to Lamiglas may also have some options for you.
