Guys that i know of that hunted it said they had permission and hunted all private.  They did not make it sound like there was much public hunting.

private timberland that if i am correct, you get the keys for the gates if you draw a permit. i might be making stuff up here, but i think thats how it works.

Access shouldn't be a problem.  The old Scott timber property is usually accessible, and there are spurs off 20 that go up into the hills east of Hamilton.  There are gates everywhere.

If you draw, the local RMEF folks might help you out- they have keys to maintain alot of elk habitat on the Nooksack.

Even if you have access to the main line, many spurs are 'no motorized vehicles', so expect to hoof-it anyway.

I live in the same county as this unit.  It is by far private. The timber company owning it has allowed keys to a portion of the gates a couple weeks prior to your season opening.

So far the sierra guys haven't been impressed with this whole giving keys out to the elk hunters thing. I'm pretty sure the bear guys didn't get sierra keys this year and depending on a few variables the future of access may be restricted greatly for the elk hunters as well.
