Area 13 Aug/Sept
« on: August 14, 2022, 09:38:17 AM »
Any area 13 guys out there?  Been fishing around Narrows and learning areas again.  Would love to fish furthered south but looks like Solo point launch is closed to public now.  Anyone know of anything other then Zittles to fish south stretch by Ketron?  Or Chambers?

I always launch at Pt Defiance and make the run down.  Is Zittles the beach launch by the ferry terminal for McNeil Island?

No, it's all the way up by Johnson point.  Man, I've been doing defiance as well and it's a jaunt..  have you been out there lately?  We did pretty good a couple weeks ago but I haven't been back.  Made trip to Columbia.  Silvers fishing ok near bridge or Fox Island?  PM is good too if you are sharing.

I usually launch at Boston harbor, not a great launch for big boats.  Haven’t made it out yet but have heard a few good reports.

Really wish we had some better public launches, for as many people live out here and how much shoreline there is, the lack of access is outrageous.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

No kidding...  When I had my boat years ago at least there was Solo point.  I just got a boat I can fish sound with and trying to get back in the game. Haven't tried Boston harbor yet.

BoHarb is great because you are fishing so close by. Gotta launch way early just to get a parking spot. Low tides are extremely difficult because the ramp flattens out

I checked to see where Johnson Point is, and depending on where you are it might be out of the way.  The mouth of the Nisqually should have fish showing up any time now.  I've been doing most of my fishing in either Westport or Point Defiance.  Always get our limits and I fish a lot.  As far at Point Defiance launch it is about a 15-20 minute run to get to the northern edge of Area 13.  Point Fosdick, Green Point, Gibson,  Mintercreek and Nisqually are the most known spots to fish.  I did better in 13 in late May through June.  I will start fishing 13 again probably next week.  Get my 11 limit and then run down to 13 for another fish.  I have used that launch once at Stillicum by the ferry dock and it is horrible to launch on the beach unless you have a small boat.  My old 18 foot boat was too big.  My new boat is 21 foot plus the extended transom and then motors comes out to about 25 plus feet and way to big to launch there, so I only launch at Pt. D.

Been sitting on the deck glassing with the binoculars and have watched a few reeled in today. Wishing i would have brought the boat.   Tons of bait fish balling up at tide change.

Thanks Crunchy...  Yeah, I've been fishing just at north end of 13 and to the fix Island peer.  Haven't got further south yet from there but sounds like pt defiance is closest launch...  Man access to this area sucks
