I was in 346 this weekend but only saw propane fires. Granted I didn’t drive along the river after dark but for the most part where I was people were behaving.

Typically, yes. Wood burning stoves are included because they can throw embers.

In Washington it means no tent stoves, smoking and even target shooting during the stage 2 which is in place for the 346. In Montana they allow tent stoves so long as you have a 1/4” spark arrester on the stove pipe.

I’m trying to understand the problem here? Is it smart to have a fire when it’s 90* and dry out, not really, but if it starts a wildfire it does what our government agencies fail to do because some tree hugging non profit donated to a politicians account telling them they can burn or manage. It clears the dead forest underbrush giving new plant life for animals to thrive on.
Maybe, just maybe we wouldn’t have the damage from bark beetles if forests were managed or burned.

Just my opinion

You forgot the part where your failure to follow the law may or may not burn someones house or cabin down. Or better yet kill someone.   We are not just talking about burning some blow downs.
I kill elk and eat elk, when I'm not, I'm thinking about killing elk and eating elk.

We were just in SW Montana for a week and a half and I spoke with a Forest Service law enforement officer and he said we could burn anywhere we wanted to but recommended we either burn in a existing fire ring or dig down to native soil before burning. The woods were tinder dry. Washington is a little paranoid imo.

I rarely spend a night in the woods without a camp fire, and I have had hundreds of campfires when they were banned. I consider myself very knowledgeable on fire behavior and have more common sense than most. I also understand that most people are idiots though and that's why we have the regulations we do, but...that's not going to stop me from doing my thing. Go ahead and flame me! (Pun intended)

Camp fires were allowed in fire rings at pretty much all the sites along Tiger Pass in the Col Ntl Forest over the summer.  :dunno:

That's because she's too busy asking for contributions for her campaign

Sometimes you need a fire even when you are fighting a fire.

Sadly this is the POOR ATTITUDE of many!  Its me me me me instead of thinking of what others can go through because of law breakers.  Im certain many many people thought just like you, then they burned down 1000’s of acres and property because all they could think of was themselves sadly.  I hope you get a huge fine one day that make you think.

I’m with you on this one rt. Most of us outdoorsman have had thousands of fires and know how to do it safely. There’s always things out of our control and *censored* can happen in seconds. Very poor attitude!

I've also chose not to have a camp fires when conditions weren't right even though there was no ban in effect. I was a wildland firefighter for 15 years. Most of which was as a hotshot and a smokejumper. I've spent 1000+ days on the fireline and fought fire in almost every western state from texas to alaska. Fire was my life and I understand it better than most. Trust me when I say I'm not going to let a campfire get away!! I don't like government overreach and I don't like being told what to do and this is one of those things that I choose to put my foot down on. If you're scared of Big bad fire and and don't understand it then yes you should probably follow the rest of the sheep when the govt tells you no fires. As for me ill be enjoying my campfire at 8500 ft in lush neon green basin surrounded by granite in late August sipping whisky when your snuggled into your tent with a head lamp.
