11yr olds first deer
« on: November 06, 2022, 12:30:00 PM »
My 11 Yr old son drew the quality deer tag for wynoochee this year. I was stoked as essentially it gave him a huge season to harvest his first animal. Despite him being sick he decided he wanted to go out yesterday evening. While walking into our spot a little spike came walking towards us with his head down. So we got down in the road and got the quickstix set up. He made a perfect shot and it was DRT. 130grn hammer hunter out of his 7mm-08 really dropped him hard. My son couldn’t believe it and for the first time I saw him cry with joy. Super special moment and couldn’t be any prouder of my son for sticking with it and powering through. He says he is hooked for life and is already planning on deer burgers for his bday.

I know how hard it can be getting kids to be successful and how the cards all have to, at times, line up perfectly.  Congrats to you and your son.  Brought back some memories of my boys' first, each one of them, so ty for that  :)  Tell him great job and happy to hear he is hooked for life!

Awesome!

Right on!! Congrats to all! definitely a special time for father and son. I watched my son fill his 4th tag last month its a special time. I know I enjoy watching him fill his tag way more than filling my own. I think it awesome he is planning birthday burgers!! Another special time, a meal provided by him for the loved ones in his life.

Congrats to your son and his first deer.  I agree with what others have said.....watching my kids harvest animals is way better than me ever harvesting an animal.

We try and thank the hunter at every meal that their harvest was part of.
