Baker wilderness bear
« on: November 20, 2022, 07:41:42 PM »
Long time reader I haven’t posted much here but I wanted to share the story of my bear this year, I have scouted this spot for years but never hunted it during September, I had a day off and decided to rip in and chase bears. It started slow and I kept hiking up the ridge I started finding fresh piles of Costco mixed berry pies until I decided I had to climb down the ridge to see into the bowl. As I climbed down I saw this boar angrily  chomping berries from bush to bush as if they owed him something, ranged him at 212 and the 270wsm dropped him. The 130 grain copper bullet did a great job, i broke him down and loaded up my pack in 1 hour and in my excitement I didn’t get water while I was near it. I ran out of water 1 mile into my 5 mile packout, it was awful but I will never do that again!

Nice bear!
Running out of water is like you said, something you only do once. It sucks!

Good looking bear

What was the 130gr copper 270wsm bullet you used? Did you recover it?

Nice bear. I bet you cramped up after that hike.
