R.I.P.  Bobbie Thorniley

WSTA just lost our Matriarch that did soooo much for the association.
She will be sadly missed by all.

When I find out more I will post it

Very sad news. A Great Lady. Bobbie will be missed.
She is with Mike now.

Bobbie was amazing, I grew up with my life being a big part of the WSTA. My dad was the King Co. rep for years and we did the Fair with her every year. Good memories for me as a kid. Thank you for everything you did 😞
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

I joined the Washington State Trappers Association in 1982 and have met a lot of people that have come through the doors of this association.  Some people that I have meet and known have stayed for a little while and some like myself have come for the long haul.  The association is a strong organization because of people like those that have come before us. Several come to mind such as Bobbie Thorniley that have worked endlessly to keep this association and trapping alive in Washington State.  I am honored to know and known them.

Some of us at WSTA called her the “Matriarch” of the Trappers Association.  She kept us updated on every trapping and hunting issue that was coming forth to the Legislation or the Wildlife Commission.  She was our Treasurer for years and always counted for every penny received and spent.  I remember one time that our check book was off by 3 cents.  She worked to find that mistake for days and I’m not sure she ever did.  That was how much she counted for ever penny spent.  She was an honest person with a lot of pride and integrity.

It was my honor to present to Bobbie the Highest Award anyone could get from us at WSTA.  That Award was a “Lifetime Achievement Award” was presented to her at the 2012 Summer Rendezvous.  (Posted in the first Fur Shed Newsletter: Volume: 1 issue 1 - Fall 2013 page 11)

She was a woman that has given unselfishly of herself to help protect our heritage history of hunting, fishing and trapping and the wildlife community in general in Washington State. Thank you Bobbie from all of us.

Bobbies husband Mike was Inducted into WSTA “Hall of Fame” at the 2018 Summer Rendezvous.  He passed in June of that year and it was my honor to present Bobbie with his Award.  These two people did so much for us at WSTA and the outdoor community.

It has been a pleasure knowing both of them.  They are back together now.  Until we meet again, happy trails on your new adventure, thanks for the memories.

So sorry to hear, Bobbie and Mike spent their lives bettering opportunities in Washington's outdoors, truly a great loss for all outdoors folks!
