Looking for dog trainer for bird and gun intro
« on: February 04, 2023, 04:08:10 PM »
Hello all
Looking for a trainer to intro my French Brittany to birds and guns
We are heading to Yellowstone at the end of August and have to board him while gone so figured if I could find a trainer that does week long bird and gun intro like Brandon at evergreen said he did would be perfect  if he does good with that we’re planning on a pheasant hunt in South Dakota early fall
I’ve been trying to get ahold of Brandon at evergreen Gundogs he says he does that type of stuff but no reply’s I seen RJ Quicksilver at the sportsman show today but he was busy and I didn’t get a chance to talk to him to see if he does that.

Any info would be great he will be 2 1/2 end of August

Rocking M labs out in eatonville. They primarily work with labs but they have a good boarding program and know what they’re doing when it comes to training.

I’m in ellensburg which may be on your way, I took my pup to gung-ho dog training for a couple sessions for gun training. Long hollow bird dogs is also here and I’ve seen many good things about them.

If you are just looking for bird and gun introduction I can help you with that, just pay for the birds and ammo.    For boarding I would second Rockin' M Retrievers.  Bryant does some retriever training, but he doesn't do upland.

I had the same issue with Brandon as you describe. My understanding is that he was or is super involved with NAVHDA, but doesn't seem to be responsive for whatever reason.

I'm not an expert trainer, but went through the same process your considering. I ended up training my own dog and have been mostly pleased with the result. I have some thoughts and input regarding the service you're considering. PM if interested

I’m guessing you’re on the westside? We use Bryant at rocking m to kennel our lab when we go on vacation. I can’t comment on training as I’ve never paid the extra for that. Whoever you decide to use, hopefully they discuss expectations because a week on a 2.5 yr old dog is likely not gonna make a huge difference. I kenneled my lab with a trainer for over 3 months and she still needed a lot of additional work.

I put in the wrong word of training all that I meant was bird and gun intro
So far I’ve done all the training and this is the part I’m at now and I agree 1 week really would not make a difference
But 1 week of bird intro would as it’s not really a 1 and done type thing as you all know
He’s 22 months
Thank you all for the input I could talk about training bird dogs all day I really enjoy the input and the actual training

I second Dunfur kennels.  Dan is top notch in training pointers.  Took my GSP to him.  He not only trains the dog, but will train the owner as well.
Right wing shooter, I aim for the left!!!

Nowhere in your incoherent rambling did you come close to what can be considered a rational thought. Everyone is now dumber having heard it. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.
