Grandson has a new CVVA Wolf 50 cal. Muzzle loader and no one we know has any experience with a muzzle loader. We both live in the Monroe area and would like to find a shop that would be willing to help us out.
I like to play around a little & will be removing the scope as it’s illegal to hunt with but may try a red dot in it’s place.

Scope is legal for modern seasons, neither scope nor red dot for muzz season.

You can only use open sights for muzzleloader seasons. No electrical devices (red dot) or scopes are allowed during muzzleloader season. You can use it with a scope during modern firearm season.
There was a proposal to allow 1X scopes but the rules aren't published yet for 2023 season.

Muzzle loaders can be a lot of fun.  One safety precaution I didn't pay much attention to years ago but I do now is double loading it.  Meaning powder then bullet rammed down the barrel then forget you loaded it and put another load of powder and bullet in the barrel is recipe for disaster.  After loading it, mark your ram rod and always check before loading it how far your ram rod will go into your barrel to see if you have a charge in it already.

Don't know of any shops in the Monroe area but if you get down to the tacoma or Puyallup area at all there is a muzzleloader shop on river rd. Very knowledgeable and I get most of my supplies there. Good luck. I've enjoyed the switch to muzzleloader from modern rifle.
