87' Bomber - Cougar Resto
« on: May 18, 2023, 10:06:55 AM »
I was gifted an old Bomber Cougar from my dad. Started really working on it this spring. The whole deck is stripped of old carpet and hardware. Just about ready for new padding and carpet. Has anyone used any gel coat restoration products before? I'm looking at what is recommended by wired2fish here in this article: https://www.wired2fish.com/boats-maintenance/how-to-make-your-old-bass-boat-look-brand-new

He uses ProTec products: https://protecproducts.com/protec-products/restoration-care-kit.html

Anyone have experience doing a gel coat restore or using similar products have any tips or advice? I'll be looking into getting a 7" buffer for this as well.

Some progress on the boat: https://imgur.com/a/ZMWJPsT

Any words of advice appreciated! Thanks all.

Show's you what I know. I thought this was going to be about a Specialty Car...not a Boat.   :dunno:

Have fun when she's done.  :hello:

:chuckle: I didn’t know what it was when he told me either lol. Apparently made by “Fibreking” out of Texas.

So far the protec product I got seems to be doing the trick. Some before and after on the gel coat. Lots and lots of wet sanding.
