Tribes are against this policy change as well

I guess I am missing the big changes in this policy.

 :o

Uh changing the definition of conservation in legalise to Preservation... Non consumptive use.. not a big change? Did you read the OP?
Maybe he means, "they're already doing this, what's the change other than putting it in writing"  :dunno:

Gotcha.  This is the attempt to codify it into law.  Remember when they held the spring bear vote? It was illegal because of lack of notice.  They drug it out over time and said we have talked about it enough. The issue is settled we are moving on.  This is the same chess game move they are trying to repeat.  Break the law. Use time and normalcy bias to establish precedent, rinse wash replete until they have muddied the water too much to decided. Adittionally it works even better if they have some turnover on the comission because then they can blame the previous comissioners.

Probably one of the only groups who might actually have some pull with the current administration.

Parker, Anderson and Linville are solid. Our hope is to reach Myers and Lemkuhl and stop this from being adopted.

Should be interesting because the agenda just says discussion not vote. Will the cram this down our throat like black bear?

Good. This is possibly the best tool against the Libs. Uber racist and illegal to tell the tribes you don’t want their input and you won’t manage for consumption.
They will let the tribes hunt, obviously if they do it’s just traditional use but white people haven’t been hunting for hundreds of years like the tribes have(sarcasm)

Well they couldn't stop the Tribes, unless they get the game animals down so low that they have an emergency closure, and even then it would be a fight.

I think many tribes understand that a shrinking pool of game is bad for everyone, including themselves. You may not like what some of them do, but they just took a stand on the side of ALLsportmen, hunters and fishermen.

Tribes are sovereign nations and the wdfw does what they say.
They are against this because they do not like anything that is bad P.R.

The tribes manage for consumptive use. If wdfw is not going to manage for consumptive use then the tribes will have a problem with that. Look at the makahs and then whaling. Even tho those Whales are dying of starvation they won’t let them hunt. They are worried that the commission is going to do that for all wildlife they consume. Cause it’s the same groups pushing both agendas

We certainly need a strong on-line and if possible in person presence.  I know they move meeting locations around but is interesting that this particular one is located in the heart of liberal city.

"Public comment on the draft is open through June 30 here and there will also be a chance to provide input during the commission’s June 22-24 meeting in Seattle."

That makes sense to me.
Bad for us.
Bad for them in the future.
Basically natives don't want a food card and being told to never hunt again.

Glad to see NWIFC oppose this non-sense.  Tribes are the most politcally powerful ally sportsman in this state have...the tribal hositility of this commission needs to be pointed out every single day.  :twocents:

Interestingly...the commission agenda also seems to have an agenda item regarding Colorado's request to transplant wolves per their ballot initiative. Wyoming told them to pound sand...but guessing WA will trip over themselves to help out.  :bash:

Of course. If they ship off 50 wolves to Colorado then they can lie through their teeth and say we’ve only got 100 wolves in our state. The moving goalpost of complete wolf rehabilitation would just keep getting further and further away.

It appears that the folks at Washington Wildlife First art prepping to make a show of force at the Seattle commissioner meeting. They have events in the week to lead up to the main event to stack the deck. It isnt on the agenda to call for a vote, but do you think that would stop them?

:chuckle: How did I know that if I kept scrolling, eventually I would find one of the huntwa libs supporting it, or questioning why sportsman would be against it? :twocents:

Thanks for passing on that info.  Yup about what I figured they'd be trying to do.  Shouldn't be any way to call for a vote but who knows.

As I stated above, we need to be as well represented as possible in person and remotely.
