Washington dorado

A buddy sent this to me and supposedly a new state record for dorado?!?! I had heard of a few being caught out there but this is a big fish!

I saw it was in the 20lbs range not crazy but, fun to see them caught

The one in the OP pic doesn’t look like a 20 pound dorado. Looks bigger than that.

We were fishing right by them when they got it, definitely a state record. They said it was 47”.

Surprised that dorado are this far north. I'm guessing they are in WA due to warmer El Nino waters.......albacore fishing should be awesome.

Step father used to catch them all the time on his tug boat/barge run from Wa to Hawaii.  I wonder what is defined as WA water?   Theyd throw out lines and stock the freezers

I've heard of a couple others caught by tuna fishermen this season. Very cool to see pelagic caught in Washington waters. Congrats to the fishermen!

Some cool stuff gets caught off the Wa coast every summer...makes s guy want to troll a popper way back in the spread...... c'mon sword....

You can see land so that seam of warmer water is pretty close to shore. I've been 80 miles out from the Golden Gate looking for that warm water.

The one pic you can see land is not a WA dorado. That’s probably a Mexico fish.

My error, got excited......thought the photos were of the same fish. But I bet both were tasty!!!!

Don't confuse the non Wa fish with the Wa fish.
Wa tuna and the other mixed in warm water fish are still 35 miles plus offshore..

Still......35 miles out is close for albacore, etc........that would be worth a trip.

35 is close, but 27 in the green water is closer  😉
