How's the coho bite in 9?  I've been out of town for a week and just getting back on the water this weekend and we'll be taking out some kids for their first salmon catches.

i havent gotten out yet, but im seeing reports that pinks are starting to thin out and people are getting into coho.
my last time out about a week ago i gave up releasing pinks trying to get a coho and just bonked 4 of em and came home haha

I think we'll be fishing Friday - Monday, different crew each day.  Sounds like the coho could be as stellar as the pinks.

Someone just has to figure out how to get elk and coho to not do their thing at the same time, it kills me to put the boat away for a week right in the middle of the peak.



Dang, just looked at the weather and it really took a turn for the worse, especially Sunday.  Hopefully they are wrong..

I finally caught something on the goofy, fake cut plug with the bait compartment in it.

we run the brads baits and twisters all the time and we kill on them. Last weekend down at buoy 10 that's pretty much the only thing you would see on the guide boats and we were killing the kings and coho

What do put in them?  I just stuck in a herring strip.

I've caught chinook with them, haven't tried them for coho as the typical spoon and hoochie rigs work so well.

I mix up canned tuna, canned herring, bloody tuna oil and other scents I have laying around.  It makes a big mess unless you are really careful which I'm usually not.

Canned tuna in oil and mix in your favorite scents with it. Empty the tuna in to a small Tupperware to mix in your scent. I also mash up a sardine or two sometimes and use that since they are soft bodied. I do well on PS cohos with the Brads CP  but I don't I don't like the banana shaped one. Nice fish BTW!

damn near verbatim what the guides were doing this weekend. On dads boat we use the sponges and whatever scent you like, but dad was impressed with the canned tuna and bloody tuna scent mix up so we are going to try that in pudget sound now. Troll for an hour or so when you pull up to check you should still see some tuna sticking through the holes if it's less then half of what you put in time to empty it as most the scent is gone at that point and rebait. We consistently got first 10 minute take downs after rebaiting last weekend can't call it a pattern but sure seemed like one

Ive been using spin fish with success. Tuna in oil with whatever scent you have on hand.

Leader length depends on dodger.

I have noticed that what works at B10 doesn't work well here and vice versa.  Last time I was down there I used a flasher (360 flasher in B10 lingo) and multiple go-to lures and nothing.  Hung my head in shame, switched to a triangle flasher and spinner and crushed them.

They are getting bigger.  Actually an 8-2 fish so that's a limit.

Hopefully they clear out a bunch of the pinks with the nets. I want to catch some silvers and the pinks wont stop biting my hook.

Heading to Possession tomorrow morning.  First time for us to take our boat up there.  Normally fish 11.  Any recent reports or suggestions?

Edmonds coho derby, so arrive with ample patience.  You can catch fish pretty much anywhere and the pressure is spread out nicely.  Find a place you like to fish without too many other people and enjoy the day.  Smart boats fishing the derby will be in 10, much larger fish compared to 9.

Fished Possession today for the first time. Good water today with almost no wind.   Showed up at the Everett launch at 7:15 and was in the water within 5 minutes, even with the Edmonds Derby going on.
Headed over to Possession and was in fish right away.  Had a hard time finding hatchery fish as 9 of the 13 fish we caught were wilds.  3 of the wilds were around 6-8 pounds.  Nothing huge, but decent fish.  Easily lost another dozen fish.  Good times!

Smart boats fishing the derby will be in 10, much larger fish compared to 9.

A couple from the MA 8-2 – 9 line.  The pinks appear to be gone and the Coho are moving toward the river.

This may be my last outing for the season.

Nice, I really struggled at the north of 8-2, it's went from automatic to really, really hard in about 2 days.  Pinks are certainly not there in any appreciable numbers.

Great conditions today, still lots of fish around.  I fished north area 10 and south area 9 so I could get two hatchery fish, and released a handful of natives.  Didn't see any pinks, suspect they all flushed with the rain earlier this week.

Don't be afraid to try shallow I picked up a nice one in 70 feet of water yesterday area 10. With only a one fish limit my wife and I were done early. I was fishing leftover anchovies from a tuna trip in a helmet.  Find the bait find the fish!

Unbelievable fishing in 9, bonked two, released 3 and missed 2 on one rod in 90 minutes.  Pretty much the fastest action I have been in this year, every bit as good as a banner year at B10.

I checked our cards in the glove box and my boat kept fish 49 and 50 this morning.  I remember years where 10 fish was pretty good fishing.

Fished 5 hours on Saturday. 4 guys. Only brought home 1 fish. Super slow

Fished area 10 near oil docks. Got 7 out of 10 hits. Not much size to them.  But our fish finders were not working at all
