I would buy a dozen quality arrows for myself and cut a few of my old arrows down for the kid.Again go to an actual archery shop and get decent help from the start.You will save money in the long run.
Having a good archery shop set you up is the best way to go IMHO, I could care less about making arrows myself as it just requires more tools etc that I don’t want to buy.If the bow is set up right from the shop you won’t mess up many arrows, I never messed any up, lost a couple missing the target.🤣
