Meat Grinder in Dishwasher
« on: January 29, 2024, 06:31:28 PM »
Anybody else have one of these high quality machines from China freight? 😁 tried it out the other day and I’m actually impressed for the price.

Can you put the washable bits in the dishwasher? Instructions that came with it are no help, other than telling me not to submerge the whole thing in water 🤣

I use a KitchenAid grinder attachment which is similar to what you have based on the pic and I put all of the parts in the dishwasher.

I have an STX Turboforce 3000 and the instructions say hand wash and dry only. I’ve been going with that.

I have a very similar one I bought from Sportsman's Warehouse almost 20 years ago. I loaned it to a friend who put it in the dishwasher and the metal turned almost grey. Didn't seem to hurt anything but I've only hand washed it since. I've been very happy with its performance given it was less than $100 and has done perhaps 50 big game animals. Slower than the high end stuff and you have to slice the meat smaller (strips work well), I will run it until it gives up on me.

Both grinders I have had say explicitly to not put any parts in the dishwasher.  I hand wash everything,  then put thru the hottest water I can stand to rinse and let them air dry on a towel.  Super hot water heats the parts and they dry very fast.

I then spray with a food grade silicone and pack them away.

My SIL put my brothers in the dish washer and the parts came out grey. Hand wash only at my house.

My grinder is a cheaper model and is almost 20 years old - I've always put parts in the dishwasher and it still works fine (it's made it through 10 deer, 2 elk, and 2 bears, with at least one washing between each). I'd probably be more cautious if I had a fancier grinder.
