The Wyoming wait begins!!!
« on: February 01, 2024, 01:30:01 PM »
Well, now all we can do is sit and wait for months to see if our Wyoming elk tag selections will pay the dividends!!!  Good luck to all that applied and may the odds be in your favor!!!!

Gonna be an interesting year for draw odds with the $2k special tags :twocents:

My Wyoming wait is pretty long with it just being another point purchase year. I really need to start cashing them in now that I am up in double digit points. I don't really care about anything close to a premier unit, I just want to hunt. Good luck gents

I put in for a Reduced Price Cow/Calf permit last week figuring on sitting out the full price with 4 points and then last night with 10 minutes left before deadline I launched a hail-mary and put in for a Full Priced General tag as well.  Good luck to all!

I am going pts only this year, planning a wilderness guided hunt next year sitting on 15 points

The odds in the random draw are not to bad!  Way better than any quality or bull tag in this state. one in thirteen odds isn't that bad for a swing at a tag!

I figured I could draw a decent tag this year for sure with my 13 points but I opted for something different. Just got access to 17,000 plus acres of private in an area that takes 6-7 points to draw the LE bull tag in the southwest corner of the state. So my decision was to choose a area that is out of my chances of drawing for my first choice this year and my second choice is a -4 full price cow tag in the area I have access to hunt. Being it is my second choice it wont cost me my points. Also the three of us put in for the reduced price cow tag in the area also. Will hunt it next year for cows and see if it is worth burning my 14 points the following year for a bull. It is a later hunt that lasts 2.5 months and is targeting elk from Utah that come into Wyoming to winter. Should be interesting. Rancher says the elk are driving him batty!  I just dont want to burn my points until I see what the ranch has to offer and the quality of the bulls.  I have a mid 70's % chance of drawing the cow tag in the regular as a second choice this year and a 40% chance drawing the Reduced price cow tag if the data holds from last year. All three of us put in seperate applications in hope that we at least draw a few cow tags and can make the trip. 6 tags would be great but I would be happy with 2-3 of them between the three of us for our recon year.

I'm just going long odds again this year with 13 points. You never know, I drew 2 tags with worse odds last year. Good luck everyone.

Have a mountain lion hunt booked already for this year. So will put in for points only this year. Will be interesting to see how the odds are. Still have max points for deer and elk.
