Yeah that's rough at least if it does get passed it's not the same week as deer season for archery I bow hunt so that'd be a mess trying to Hunt both and dealing with everybody else hunting at the same time

We’ve had a Sept opener here for my entire life, until recently. I’ve never shot a bear in August til this last season. Always too hot to mess with them. Last season we had a break in the heat, and my schedule allowed it, so I shot one mid August. Plenty bears so I went out four more evenings. Saw 7 bear total, counting cubs. Shot another bear first week in Sept.
Again I am not an August guy, but if the resource can support the harvest, we need to make that resource available to the public. Not to rely on the government to cull, and waste, nuisance bears. From a big picture view, the mule deer could sure use some relief from growing predator pressure.
Now, when we are offered an extension on the tail end of bear season, that is a red herring. I’ve been told by a bio, that 70 % of bears are in the den by Oct 15th. From my obsevations through the years, I think this is accurate.
Main thing is folks, no matter what hoops we are forced to jump through, get out and kill some bears.

That’s what the antis are proposing, the department suggested an August 15th opener.
I don’t understand why the department didn’t stand up and say the August 1st opener should remain.  Why do we have to keep compromising and losing opportunities 1 cut at a time?

Pre 2019 the season opened August 1st! Saying they're reverting the season to pre 2019 then changing the whole state to Sept 1 is a flat out lie. Either that or they have no idea that it was only the east side that changed from September to August. This is so confusing.

Vote Semi Bird!!!

....if you want sideshow Bob as your next governor.
well I've only seen about 1000 of his signs over here on the east side and I've listened to him speak I haven't heard of or seen of anybody else and he's the only conservative that I've seen so far so that's where I'm going

That there is the problem the election for the governor will be won and lost in King County. Dave Reichert stands the best chance of winning, he has the support to beat Ferguson.
:yeah:
Reichert is our only hope.

BigTex,

Hoping youll chime in on this with your perspective. What do you make of them saying they're reverting to the pre 2019 opener and then changing the whole state to September 1st?

When Washington elected Inslee over McKenna back in 2012, it showed me the cast was set. McKenna's loss was the biggest lost opportunity for Washington in a generation, or more. Population bias towards the existing democratic strongholds in WA has only increased since then.  No reasonable, rational, actual Republican will occupy the big house in Olympia in the near future. The best that can be hoped for is perpetual control of the senate.

Dave Reichert was polling ahead of Ferguson the last time I saw numbers. Plus King County Sheriff was an elected position in King County; he obviously won that in a blue county. He is respected and well liked in the most populous county in the state. I like his odds of taking the governors mansion. He is the best candidate we’ve had since McKenna.
