One of my issues with Glocks and most other striker fired pistols has been their triggers.  I never did anything with the trigger in my G20 but I did put an aftermarket trigger in my Gen4 G17 and I went from hating that particular gun to one that I actually really enjoy shooting now.  I bought a Gen5 G19 not to long ago and the trigger in the Gen5's seem to be considerably better then the Gen4's.  The trigger in my Gen5 G19 isn't quite as good as what I have in my G17 but it's close enough that I won't need to replace it so if the Gen5 G20's also have a better feeling trigger like my 19 does that would make the Gen5 G20 one I'd put higher on my list.  The best factory trigger I've ever shot in a striker fired pistol has consistently been the M&P Performance Center stuff.  The XD-M Elite has a very nice factory trigger in them as well.

Before you put your money down and buy one I highly recommend going to a range or two that has a variety of 10's you can rent and put a few rounds through as many different 10's as you can.  It'll be money well spent and the only way you'll really know which one you like the best.

Hey, where did you pick up on the negative press on the MP 10? I've had an MP 40 PC ported for a while, used it for work, before I retired I never had any issues. My son used MP 40 before the office we worked for recently went to all MP 9's with red dots. I know they are not 10s, but never had any issues.

My only experience is with HK USP 45 I carried for a while, then HK USP 40, then 1911 45, I had forgotten  how heavy a 1911 was and went back to the HK 40, before going to the MP 40, (n my younger life I carried a 1911 for a long time).

Hard to beat the grip on a MP.  I am 10mm curious, interested in any intel specifically on the MP 10.

https://marklivesthings.medium.com/s-w-m-p-10mm-pistols-prevalence-of-the-magazine-drop-malfunction-b9abad648de9

I could be too paranoid but these are some the resources I came across looking into the reliability of the m&p 10mm. Seems enough people are complaining that there could be legitimacy to it. But there will be haters of anything, even some of the best things in life haha. Though the m&p 10mm performance center looks like a really nice 10mm, just still concerned if its going to be failing.

Another vote for Glock. My woods gun is a G20 but I used to carry a G29. I might go back to a G29 at some point. For the last 20 years in LE I’ve carried only Glock and they’ve served me well, G22, G21, G30, G17 and currently a G45. G21 was my longest serving for about 15 years and the only reason I changed is because I switched departments and the current department carries 9mm.

I like my Springfield XD. Shoots and carries well for a double stack 15 rounder. Kills what it shoots.

I have shot a few but I really like the G20.  The XDM is why I switched because the ergonomics fit my hand better with the Glock.  I did some upgrades that I feel helped a bit.

I added/swapped the following:
Trijicon HD XR Night Sights
Talon Pro Grips
Razco Chest Holster
NDZ Guide Rod w/ 22lb Spring
NDZ Slide Extended Slide Release
Vickers Extended Take Down Lever

G40 mos with a trijicon rmr. Goes on the chest every time I go into the woods and never had an issue. I bought it when they first came out 8ish years ago and haven’t found an option to make me want to replace it yet.

Favorite is either a Springfield TRP or an EEA Witness Hunter, both very accurate and easy to shoot accurately. Every time I buy a Glock I can't wait to get rid of it. They are very reliable which is important, but never had a problem with reliability on my Springfield or EEA, and they do get used and abused... just way better fit for me.

I went for the Glock 20 SF (short frame) which has been very good for me. It is basically the same as your typical 20 with a marginally smaller grip.

Fusion 1911 6" barrels . Old picture,  they both have RMRs now

Do you turn your RMR on before you go in the woods so it’s ready to go or just turn it on as needed?
