Different systems, same results

Not even close.

For sure not even close… out of staters in Idaho have a 5% or better chance at drawing some moose tags… in Washington top points holders have <1% chance.

So how many years do I need to apply in order to draw a 5% tag ?

And don't get me wrong, 5% is awesome...but I've had my hopes up for sub 10% tags, heck even sub 15% tags for along time !! 5% should be a 1 tag in 20 years...could be sooner, could be later... sounds very similar to Washington

If Washington made us choose one category to apply for I bet you'd see comparable odds

It’s really not. Idaho 5% is roughly 20 year draw average… >1% Washington draw is 100 year average.

I made the argument a number of years ago that Washington should move to a system like Idaho because the comparable increase in draw odds. However, Washington permits have consistently gone down hill since and made the difference that much more apparent.

I am in for Sheep. ID is the best system by far for OIL tags. Relatively high tag numbers by species, applicant numbers are limited several ways. Making everyone choose between OIL or deer/elk/antelope is brilliant, it increases odds in both groups. Paying full price for tags up front is the big one, if it weren't for that, applicants would be 10X what they are currently. I wish WA would go back to that system but the revenue is more important.

I have drawn both moose and goat in ID as a Non Resident. In a lifetime of applying in WA I've only drawn goat. I'll probably never see a Moose or sheep tag in WA, but odds are high I'll pull that sheep tag in ID.

I’ll prob never put in for an elk draw in my life in Idaho. Figure after I draw moose I’ll focus on sheep (unit 11), then goat, not positive on that unit choice yet. I say this hoping 4 yrs from now I’m putting in for elk 😂

Im not sure how idahos moose draws can even be compared to WA. There are very desireable moose areas in idaho with 5 tags and 46 apps. Another has 5 tags and 65 apps. Probably the highest odds moose hunt in WA has 4 tags and 768 apps.

Those draw odds are close to our best sheep unit odds 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

That’s crazy! Idaho has exploded with people the last couple years.

Got my moose tag on year #3 and my wife drew a moose tag her first year applying.  One of us has drawn an extra whitetail does tag every year for the past 5 years and last year we both drew an extra  whitetail doe tag.

Hoping yr 3 is my lucky number. Same unit you got, by back yard lol…
