Two Teanaway Cow Tags
« on: June 13, 2024, 06:43:13 PM »
Me and a buddy drew cow tags (group hunt) for Teanaway GMU335. We've spent considerable time across the highway in 328 and 329, but never 335. Any tips you might offer for a couple newbies to the unit? We'll spend the full 9-days in the woods if needed (wall tent). Probably spend the week of deer in the unit, too. Appreciate any advice you could offer.

Get some smoked salmon and go on a road trip and knock on some doors down in the valley

The wolves do very well up there. They love the community forest, with no motorized traffic they have no reason to leave. There are elk in there, they just aren’t in the same place very long or in big herds. Tagged along on a muzzleloader cow tag last year and never did catch up to them. Put your time in, don’t get hung up on old sign, and try to go away from the howling at first light every morning and you have a good chance at coming across a couple cows

Lots of elk in that unit. I've got a friend in the unit with a bunch of properties.  No promises but I'll reach out. Might cost ya some meat!!

Yeah, I wondered about the wolf activity. Thanks for the advice.
