Well, we struggled with the weather too, no mashers were found but thanks to our new found friends in Wenatchee, Michael and Bryan we managed three four points! The hunt was really fun and cant wait to draw again in the future. Chawawa tag and 2 Enitat.

Nice Bucks! I filled my Slide Ridge tag with a buck similar to the smaller of those two. Never found the pig I was hoping for. Still was a load of fun though!

Ya That is my son Jason and he is really proud of that buck, there is a long story and a few good lessons that go with it! Glad he got the biggest one for a change.

Lemondog, You guys all have good reason to celebrate. Sealing the deal on three 4 pts is a success in anyones book given the conditions this year. A nice group of bucks. Your comment about a good story and a few good lessons that go with it are really a big part of the hunt, don't you think? I for one would love to hear the long or short version, whichever you prefer to tell!!! Again, my hats off to you guys!

Thanks for the nice comments! The story on my sons buck is: I told them I thought they should go high up to a place I showed them befor the hunt started. They went there tuesday morning and hit the trail befor daylight. They split up and were just above snow level. Jason rounded a bend in the skid road he was on and saw deer in the bottom of the draw around 400 yards away. I the dim light aginist the snow he could see tall antlers on the last deer. Being somewhat exposed he watched the deer all cross over to the next draw. He ran about 1/2 mile and peeked over and the buck was tending a doe @ 300+. We had practiced at that range so he thought he should take a shot as it was fairly open between him and the deer. He said " Dad, the buck fever really set in" And he had forgot his shooting sticks at home! He setteled in and let fly and the buck took off down hill at a dead run, 2nd shot same result. The buck went out of site around a bend in the draw. He called his partner on the radio and they met up. Willy ask him if he checked for blood and Jason said no, he was pretty sure he missed. Willy being the veteren he is said no, we go check every time! Sure enough, good blood spray where the buck crossed a skid. The tracking was tough as the snow ran out but 1.5 miles down the canyon they finished the job. Radios got them a ride back to the top of the mountian to retrive the pack frames. They made it back to camp just after dark, man were they draggin.......It was a great day. He will never "not check" after a shot again! Ihave attached better pics of both there bucks here. I am very proud of these guys. They understood the privilge of these tags and worked very hard to make the best of it.
