« on: June 21, 2025, 08:32:25 AM »
Looks like the new regs are on the WDFW website.

Limit for pinks in 8-2 is zero?   >:(

It has listed 2025-26 season but when clicked on last years regs still come up and says new regs will be available soon.

Yep, no retention of pinks in 8-2. From the WDFW blog on salmon seasons, it’s due to forecast of lack of pinks returning to the Stillaguamish I believe.

Last I read it was 2 salmon, no pink bonus, must have changed.  I think it's the only area without the bonus, at least the areas I fish.  Hard to imagine the biomass at Mukilteo are all headed to the Skagit.  It's going to be ticket city.

The stilly is driving allot of the Chinook seasons...all the way to the coast.
I suspect they don't want mis identification of Jv chinook v pink.
It's amazing how many people don't know the difference.

WDFW has said the Stilly pink run is underperforming.  2 years ago it was the same story, but there would have to be something really wrong with the Stilly for the pinks to be in even worse situation that last cycle given the insane amounts returning nearly everywhere else.

Here's the press release:

Quote
With the expected strong return of pinks, WDFW added two additional pinks to the daily limit for all inner-marine areas through Sept. 30 except Marine Area 8–2 (Ports Susan and Gardner), which is closed for pink salmon retention due to the Stillaguamish River not expected to meet spawning escapement goals. Pink daily limits in freshwater areas will be watershed specific.

Well, at least it will be easier to find a parking spot at Lighthouse Park.
